Department of  Greenergy Applications

¡@

Introduction

The department was established in 2010 as Green Energy Science and Technology with a four-year university program. This department is envisioned to develop advanced technologies for energy efficiency with market-sited green energy, and affordable energy systems to match up the demands of engineering skills as well as focusing on solar power, LED devices, bio-fuels and hydrogen energies, fuel cell and etc. In addition, the department is especially established to aim to improve energy efficiency in end-use sectors and to increase the diversity of energy resources consistent with an economically and environmentally sustainable future.

Educational vision

The vision of this department is to cultivate individual thinking and problem solving specialists for the ability to conduct the research of greenergy technology and energy saving system with the developments for the renewable energies, and in specifically to cooperate closely with industries by technological interaction to develop novel green energy products and markets.

Educational goals

The goal of this department is to provide educational training in the fields of renewable technologies and greenergy production with well-qualified engineers and to cultivate students to serve the industry with the connection of the National Science Park in the southern Taiwan and  as enhancing them with both theoretical and practical skills.

Faculty

Faculty members in this Department include 1 professor, 7 associate professors and 5 assistant professors. Over 90 percent of our faculty members hold doctoral degrees. Our faculties are professional with industrial experiences, and they can provide a comprehensive education with the required care and concern for individual student.

Facilities

The department is equipped with modern and high-precision instruments  (FTIR, GPC, HPLC, AA, DCS, GC/MASS, TGA, DSC, DMA, TMA, TOC, IC, MTS and XRD) for practice and provides several special laboratories (renewable energy., biofuels and bioenergy, environmental technology and energy engineering, and Etc..) for teaching. The computer network room was set up and joined in Internet, and it now has been set up the wireless of campus to offer faster and convenient network environment for students.

Courses

The Department focuses mainly on the teaching of such specialized curricula as Renewable Energy Science Courses, Fuel Cell Systems & Hydrogen Courses, Solar Energy Courses, Biofuels & Bioenergy Courses and Energy Systems & Policies Courses. The research areas are emphasized the application on greenergy technologies especially for bio-energies, and fuel cells, as well as energy saving system for functional membrane materials.

Future prospect

The Department is near the National Kaohsiung Science Park and the Environmental Science & Technology Park in southern Taiwan.  The graduates of our department have excellent prospects in employment within the related fields of greenergy engineering, energy saving material science and green technologies, nano-composite photoelectric materials, biomass technology and LCD polymeric materials.
